How I work
What therapy with me feels like

Let's be honest, therapy is kind of weird.  You've never met me and suddenly you're supposed to talk about your deepest stuff.  Strange.  But I mean it when I say: thank you for just showing up. That part takes more courage than it looks like from the outside

Sessions should feel comfortable, like chatting with a friend but with an expert in your corner.  It's a real conversation; I talk, I respond, I engage, it's collaborative.  And sometimes we even laugh

I’m going to listen to you, like really listen, to what you want to say.  I may not let on right away, but I'm listening for several things that might be useful to your work: relationship patterns, coping skills you've outgrown, your hidden wisdom, the insight you may not be in touch with

In the beginning, I’ll ask a lot of questions.  Your story is the backbone of our work, so I want to learn it deeply before I suggest pulling in CBT, IFS, Narrative Therapy, Solution-focused Therapy, mindfulness/meditation, or any other therapy tricks

(thanks to past and present clients for the intel on this)

I'm in the messy middle!  My new office is set to launch in mid-April. Here's some "before" pictures to bring you along in the process

A heads up about change...

Change can be hard.  Even when it’s the kind of change you really want.  As you begin making more room for yourself, healing, and setting clearer boundaries, the systems around you (family, work, friendships) often adjust, too.

These adjustments can feel destabilizing at first.  It doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong; it usually means you’re doing something new and meaningful.

Reaching out to your PCP/OB-GYN

With your permission, I would be happy to collaborate with your primary care provider, pediatrician, or OB/GYN.  Hormones, physical health, and mental health are deeply connected, especially for women, and coordinated care can be incredibly helpful.

If this type of collaboration feels supportive to you, we can talk in session about exactly what information you want me to share

Therapy approaches I use
  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) helps you notice and shift unhelpful thoughts and behaviors

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) explores the different parts of yourself and how they influence your feelings and actions

  • Narrative Therapy rewrites your story in a way that reflects your values and strengths

  • Solution-focused Therapy finds practical strategies that help you move forward quickly

  • Mindfulness / Meditation teach practices to help you be present
