Therapy for People-pleasing and Overgiving Women

Feeling Stuck?

For women who are ready to take an honest look at what's really going on

What is going on?

My guess is you're here because you're ready for a different perspective

You've got plenty of people in your corner who will agree with you.  You're here because you're ready to do something about it

Congratulations, that's a big deal

Maybe it's your mom.  Your partner.  A friendship that's started to feel one-sided.  A work dynamic that's making you dread Mondays.  Or a quiet sense that somewhere along the way you lost the thread of who you actually are

Why is this a big deal?  It puts you back in control

Getting to this point, being open to really peeling back the layers and looking inward, is the definition of courage.

You may not be sure what's next and that's okay.  You can go slow, you can change your mind

I'm here for all of it

Something brought you here.  It's worth following

Booking a consult is low stakes.  We can go slow, we can stop, I might not even be the right fit.  But honoring that urge?  That's already you building a stronger relationship with yourself

Here's where we start...

People-pleasing is a skill developed over time.  A really useful one, actually — probably for a long time.  Most women I work with learned early that keeping others happy meant less conflict, less risk, less having to stick their neck out.  When they did try to stick their neck out?  It didn't go well, so they stopped practicing.

We start by looking at everything that's been feeding that pattern.  You're getting a lot of messages that this is exactly what everyone wants from you.

From there we get honest about what people-pleasing is and isn't giving you.  It's meeting some needs.  Not all of them. The unmet needs deserve a platform, too.

Then comes the harder work: learning to clearly state what you want, trust that it's okay to want it, and stop waiting for someone else to figure it out for you.  Not selfishness, just knowing yourself.

What to expect

1/  Reach out and I'll get back to you directly.   Send me an email coree@pathtowellnesscounseling.com

2/  From there, we'll find a time for a free 15-minute video call. It's a chance for you to ask questions, get a feel for how I work, and decide if you'd like to become a client.

3/  From there, you'll know if it's a fit

How we meet

I see clients in person at my office in St. Paul, virtually, or a mix of both — whatever works best for you.  If you're in Washington state, we'll meet virtually.

Most clients start weekly. Sessions are 55 minutes.  That said, we'll figure out what actually fits your life.

Have you been wondering...

?

Why do I keep ending up in the same relationship patterns?

Because most of us learn how to relate to people long before we have the words for it.  Therapy is where you finally get the words, and then decide what you want to do with them

?

Why do I feel responsible for everyone else's feelings?

At some point it worked.  Keeping the peace, anticipating needs, making sure everyone was okay, it probably kept things stable.  But it's exhausting and it leaves very little room for your own feelings. That's worth looking at.

?

Am I the problem in my relationships?

Maybe.  Partially.  But that's actually not the most useful question.  The better question is: what's your part, and what do you want to do differently? That's where things start to move

Changes you'll notice
  • Your intuition will start to speak up.  Maybe for the first time, you'll know what it sounds like

  • New ideas starting to come to you, almost on their own

  • More room between you and everyone else's feelings

  • You'll get clear on whose work is whose

You're still reading.

That curiosity might just be your intuition talking

And if you decide to book?  I'm ringing cowbells for you

Fun fact: my own tricky relationship patterns are what brought me to therapy for the first time too.  I might just know what you're going through. 😉
